‘Plastique du monde’
a collection of silk souvenir scarves
During my travels I gathered many souvenirs which I always wanted to have around me.
After a while I decided to use some of the objects most precious to me, and made prints of them onto delicate silks. They became colorful scarves, which I called ‘Plastique du monde’
The objects I used for this project:
‘flip flops’: Madura,Indonesia / ‘pistols’: Siquijor Island, The Philippines / ‘balloons’: Litang, China / ‘octopus’: Flores, Indonesia / ‘lucky necklace’: Udupi, India / ‘jelly fish’: Flores, Indonesia.
All scarves are printed in limited edition on silk chiffon, crepe de chine or fine silk jersey and have raw edges which gives the scarves an unpolished look.
Lilianne Ploumen is wearing the ‘lucky necklace’ for an interview in the ‘Elegance’
